DS Logon Registration

DS Logon Registration

The DoD Self-service Logon (DS Logon) allows beneficiaries affiliated with the Department of Defense or Veterans Affairs to access several websites using a single username and password. DS Logon is available to service members, veterans, their spouses, and eligible family members.

A DS Logon account gives you secure, high-level authentication beyond a simple username and password. It also helps protect your personal information.

What is a DS logon account?

A DS logon account is a secure ID that allows you to access multiple DoD and VA websites using a single username and password. You can sign up for a DS Logon Level 1 (Basic) Account to get started or choose a DS Logon Premium (Level 2) Account to have the most features available and enjoy the best level of security.

DS Logon accounts are free and never expire, but you will need to create a new password every 180 days. You will receive a text or phone call that will contain your one-time, single-use PIN.

To register for a DS logon account, go to the DS Logon Self-Service site and enter your DoD Beneficiary ID card number. If you do not have a DoD Beneficiary ID, you can also use your military Sponsor’s DFAS myPay account to request a DS Logon account for you.

The DS Logon registration process will ask a few questions to help provide you with the highest level of authentication as quickly as possible. Select “Yes” if you have a Common Access Card (CAC) or “No” if you do not have a CAC or DFAS myPay.

You will then be asked to enter your personal information so we can locate your record in DEERS. If you are a veteran and enrolled in DEERS, you can use your DS Logon Level 2 (Premium) Account to quickly obtain a DS Logon by using your email address on file in DEERS.

DS Logon accounts are available to Veterans, Service members, their spouses, and eligible family members. If you do not have a DoD or VA ID, you can obtain a DS logon by visiting a personnel office.

What is the DS Logon Self-Service site

DS Logon allows Service members, veterans, their spouses, and dependents to access the Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) websites with a single username and password. Premium DS Logon accounts also provide secure access to the eBenefits site, which is a portal for health care, disability claims, and Veteran ID cards.

Applicants for DS Logon must present a DD Form 214, “Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty,” to verify their military service. Those separated from the Reserve Component before 1982, and those who were reassigned to a Reserve Component unit after separation, may present a separate document confirming their Reserve Component separation in place of a DD Form 214.

Individuals who wish to register for a DS Logon account must have an existing record in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). DEERS enrollment is automatic for all Servicemembers and Veterans who served since 1982.

Applicants can register for a DS Logon account by using the My Access Center website. Alternatively, eligible individuals can request a DS Logon credential through remote proofing. During remote proofing, an applicant must answer a set of questions to validate their identity and obtain a Premium DS Logon credential. Upon completion of remote proofing, a DS Logon credential is provisioned instantly. During the remote proofing process, an individual can select to receive a DS Logon level 2 (Premium) account in text or by phone instead of receiving an activation code via mail.

The DS Logon Self-Service site allows eligible parties, such as DoD sponsors, spouses and dependents (18 and older), retirees, and veterans who are enrolled in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) to register for a DS Logon credential on line. DS Logon accounts are used to facilitate secure authentication to critical DoD websites. DS Logon also supports the Personnel Identity Protection Directive and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) e-Authentication guidance.

In addition to registering on the DS Logon Self-Service site, beneficiaries may obtain a DS Logon premium account at VA Regional Offices and TRICARE Service Centers. These locations can be found on the My Access Center website. DS Logon Premium accounts require in-person proofing to ensure that users are who they say they are.
